This can easily be done from the pool deck. First, attach your removal  tool to the telescoping pool pole, and connect the tool into the slots/holes located on top of the cleaning nozzle. Once your tool is attached, firmly press down  on the pole, and quarter-turn it counter-clockwise. You will feel the nozzle  disengage from the fitting. Once you feel this, unlock, lift up, and remove the  nozzle.
